AIDS Island!

From the AP, via TIMEMike Huckabee once advocated isolating AIDS patients from the general public, opposed increased federal funding in the search for a cure and said homosexuality could “pose a dangerous public health risk.” Wow, just another reason for me to loathe Huckabee and the republican party in general. The democrats aren’t much better, but at least they aren’t filled with a bunch of ignorant, homophobic, fear-mongering jingoes.”It is the first time in the history of civilization in which the carriers of a genuine plague have not been isolated from the general population. It seems that Huckabee is completely oblivious to the fact that AIDS is a sexually-transmitted disease, and therefore there is no need for quarantine. I don’t even have anything clever to say. This is simply beyond me, nothing politicians say or do ever makes any sense to me. Mike Huckabee is a moron, so are the rest of them.

I was shocked speechless as well. I realize it was the early ’90’s. But, aren’t our leaders supposed to be critical thinkers that are willing to be sympathetic to a worldwide concern? And not small-minded homophobes buying into the religious rights bigoted group-think…I have to remember to breathe.

What’s worse is that even though the original statement was made in the 90’s, he still stands by it today: http://rawstory.com/news/2007/Huckabee_stands_by_AIDS_statement_1209.html

    sickening.

Ah yes. I see what he’s doing here. Stand by the statement. Assume the conservative half still thinks this way, etc. I would use a word here … but I refrain. If you want another Huckabee story, then you can look for the parole leniency that he gave to the serial rapist.
